YIN Yoga is one way to address and shift the energy of our archetypal journey.

YIN Yoga Certification

Welcome, movers and seekers, to a journey into the profound landscape of your embodied self. This course, guided by the insightful Danielle Hughes, offers a unique synthesis of Yin Yoga, Somatics, and Samasa Yoga (as developed by Denise Davis-Gains)—a trifecta of practices designed to awaken your intrinsic wisdom and cultivate deep, lasting wellbeing.

We, as movement educators and explorers, understand that the body is not merely a physical structure, but a living, breathing narrative of our experiences, emotions, and spirit. It is a fluid, dynamic tapestry woven from bone, muscle, fascia, and the very breath that animates us. This course invites you to explore this intricate terrain, to listen deeply to the whispers of your tissues, and to rediscover the innate intelligence that resides within.
Through the long-held, yielding postures of Yin Yoga, we will access the deeper layers of connective tissue, releasing restrictions and creating space for vital energy to flow. This is not just about stretching; it's about listening to the stories held within the fascial web, the body's interconnected network that shapes our form and influences our movement. We'll explore how these tissues respond to gentle, sustained pressure, unlocking pathways to greater ease and resilience.

Complementing Yin's stillness, Somatics will introduce you to the art of embodied awareness. We'll delve into the world of sensation, learning to differentiate subtle shifts in muscle tension, breath patterns, and postural alignment. Through gentle movements, guided explorations, and a focus on interoception – the inner sense of our bodies – you’ll begin to unravel habitual patterns of holding and discover new possibilities for movement and being. This is about reclaiming your body's innate wisdom, its capacity for self-regulation and healing.
Samasa Yoga, with its emphasis on integration, provides the bridge between these two powerful modalities. It invites us to bring mindfulness and intention to every movement, every breath, every moment. We'll explore how to cultivate a sense of wholeness, connecting the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of our being. Samasa helps us weave the threads of Yin and Somatics into a cohesive practice, a way of moving through the world with greater presence and grace.

This course is an invitation to inhabit your body more fully, to rediscover its inherent intelligence, and to cultivate a deep sense of connection to yourself and the world around you. Join us as we embark on this transformative journey together.

forgiveness

Deep in our psyche, as we hold our poses, there is a seed that settles into the breath and gets planted in our tissues. This seed is the potential of forgiveness of self, others, god. Just for a while we could be right here, now.

Frequently asked questions

General Training Information

Q: What is Yin Yoga?

A: Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with poses that are held for longer periods of time (typically 3-5 minutes or more). It targets the deep connective tissues of the body (fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones) and promotes relaxation, flexibility, and mindfulness. Our particular style of YIN yoga includes gentle warming up sequences that decrease viscosity and increase ease of movement. Our academically informed approach will support your understanding of this approach and how tissues organize around joint structures and how the body recovers from injuries of life most effectively.
